Developed from the same fine art basics used for over 35 years in our renowned adult program, our children’s art instruction program gets results! Our children's art instructors are extensively trained in The Gluck Method of fine art instruction. This world- renowned, step-by-step art instruction program and proven techniques provide each child with the knowledge and skills they need to unleash his or her creativity and the ability to produce beautiful works of art.
Our children's art classes are scheduled to ensure that each student receives the best art instruction available. We average 6 students per instructor in our classes and Instructors work with each student individually to ensure that they really learn how to draw and paint with confidence.
Students, as young as 5, begin gaining a solid foundation how to draw and paint in their very first class. Using a charcoal pencil and pastels, students learn to build a drawing through the use of simple shapes and then how to create colorful, 3-dimensional effects, resulting in their finished work looking life-like.
The amazing world of watercolor is the next step for students. Each child learns about their watercolor materials and how to use them effectively to create beautiful paintings. Students also learn the difference between primary, secondary and complimentary colors and how to mix a wide array of colors. The result is what can only be described as "incredible" works of art.
Learning to paint in oils is the student's next adventure. A specifically designed series of painting drills are completed by the student, each helping to build greater understanding and artistic skill. Students learn techniques used by great master painters of the past, such as: Monet, Manet, Cezanne', Rembrandt and more. With the techniques taught in our children's art classes students create amazing works of art and eventually their own original paintings in whatever style they choose. Seeing the beaming faces of a child and their parent when the student completes their latest piece of art is one of the great pleasures of instructing art classes for children at Mission: Renaissance.
